Highlands Countryside

I think we Scot Highlands are the most beautiful sites we have seen on any trip.  Yes, all places we visited have "beauty spots", but none a large and consistently stunning as the Highlands. 

 As we've said elsewhere on the Scotland pages, words cannot describe the beauty of the Highlands, and unfortunately, neither can our photographs.

Consequently, with few exceptions, this page will have pictures and few words.

We were amazed at the number of waterfalls we saw.  It seemed as every hill and mountain had at least one fall.

Of course - lochs and the Highlands go together

When taking these next pictures, we thought we saw some posts or something on the hill.  We discovered the "posts" were ski lifts - we were in the midst of ski country!

How can one describe the colors of heather? 

We were driving down this Highland road and saw a pull-off with a number of other cars.  There was a pretty spectacular waterfall to be seen here. 

The views were great - with or without the falls!
