Casablanca One

Well here we are - Casablanca, Morocco.  There are few names that bring up such a mixture of thoughts and memories.   Foremost are several lines from the movie Casablanca:

Play it once, Sam. For old times' sake.

        Here's looking at you, kid.

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.
                Round up the usual suspects.

The waters? What waters? We're in the desert.

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
                            We'll always have Paris.

Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life.

Can you think of another movie with more memorable quotes?  Some movies may have one or two, most of course have no memorable lines - but Casablanca is amply rich in such verbal memories.   That being the case, we really didn't know what to expect.  Just how much of Casablanca would, like the film, be misleading.  The film was not made in Morocco; there was no "Rick's"; Bogart never said, "Play it again Sam."  So what are we going to find?

Well, We're going to find out later, because as soon as we clear immigration and customs, we're loaded on a bus and away we go.   We meet our guide for this adventure, Hassan Idfath.

Since we do not stop to see anything upon arrival, we're immediately off to Rabat.  So much for this initial stop in Casablanca.
