Rome and Florence

We were on our own"  while in Rome and Florence, and were the better for it.   We walked and walked.  We had no small number of adventures and good times.  Yes, we saw the fountains, the statuary and the Vatican.  The Sistine Chapel is more than you've been told, and David has very big - hands.   Yes, the ruins of Rome were certainly sights on a "must see" list, but they did not look as I pictured them - I was disappointed by the Senate; I pictured a Julius Caesar scene, not knowing it had been enclosed by Senators because the pigeons pooped to much on them.  When lost of turned around or hunting a location not too accurately place on a map - do not ask as roman - to a person they did not know where it was, where to go, how to get there - they were not being rude; they honestly tried to help, they just did not know anythnig about their city!

We took a wonderful train to Florence.  I've neither seen nor heard of any city as Florence.  It is unique in almost every way.
