Visit to Egypt & Jordan

All right ISIS,  let's get going - Mashi?

We start with that encouragement, and continue to hear it throughout our trip through Masr.  No, Egyptians do not call the country Egypt, they call it Masr.   As our guide, Mohamed Shehata,  would certainly say, "Ana bahab Masr" - I love Eqypt.

We loved Egypt too.  I wish we had more time at every location - now.  At the time however, for example when I told  Mohamed I'd love to have more time at the pyramids,  he told me (in my words) "There are no more than the ones you see - how much time can be spent looking at them - many pictures can you take?"  After another hour in the heat and dust, I had to agree.

However, since returning home I purchased three books:   The Compete Gods and Goddesses of Egypt, The Egyptian Book of the Dead, and How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs.  Having completed the Gods & Goddesses, I would give anything to go back to many of the sites with Mohamed.  The  sites we visited are prominently featured in the book with detailed photographs pointing out the very statues and carving we saw.  However, with this book, each figure has a name, a history, a meaningful place in the environment which we found them.  I hope, over time to go back to this site's photographs and identify just "whom" we were looking at by writing a descriptor for each.

We had two cameras and took perhaps four meg of pictures.  As neither of us are terribly expert, we've edited many right into the trash can and elected not to share a large number of the really poor ones - none-the-less enough of the poorer pictures  made the cut.

We have divided  our Egypt pictures into the following parts for this web site:
